Case study · Barbers, Old Town, Swindon
Benny's Barbershop: 141 five-star reviews, and a website with 52 words on it.
Benny opened on Devizes Road in January 2024, and by September had 141 five-star Google reviews. Google was already sending him around 260 clicks a month to his website. The website those people landed on had 52 words, no prices and no reviews. This is what we measured before we changed anything, what we changed, and what happens next, month by month.

- 8.9s to 3.5s
- Time to the main content on a phone, old site against new, same throttled test
- 141
- Five-star Google reviews before we touched anything
- About 260
- Clicks a month from his listing to his website, six months to September 2026
What we found.
The listing was doing the hard work. People were finding him, reading 141 reviews and clicking through, about 260 of them a month. Then the website gave them nothing to go on: 52 words, no prices, no list of cuts, not one of the reviews, and no sign of the footballers he cuts. The address also differed between his listing, his booking app and his old site, and the listing had no phone number. Every one of those clicks was a customer the site was letting down.

How we did it.
A website that sells the chair
Live on his own domain on 28 September: his real prices and times from his booking app, the footballers he cuts, real Google reviews, the team, opening hours and a map.
Booking from every page
Through his own booking app, so nothing changes for him or his regulars, and nobody has to hunt for how to book.
Fast on a phone
87% of the people viewing his listing were on a phone. The same throttled test now shows the main content in 3.5 seconds, down from 8.9.
His Google listing put right
A proper description, every service priced, the missing cuts added, and the address corrected to 55C everywhere we control.
Found for the right words
A title and description that say barber, Swindon and Old Town, and Search Console set up with the sitemap submitted, so Google reads the new site properly.

What this means for a firm like yours.
If people already find you and like what they read about you, your website is where you win or lose them. Benny's reviews were bringing people to the door. Now the site finishes the job instead of sending them back to the search results.
What their customers say.
Their Google reviews, word for word. The work is theirs. Our job is making sure the right people see it.
Hands down the best barbers in Swindon! I've tried most barbers in Swindon and nothing comes close. Every visit is spot on: friendly atmosphere, professional service, and most importantly, consistently sharp haircuts.
Bennys is outstanding. I felt comfortable the second I walked into a clean, welcoming shop. Benny's team are all professionals and so polite, and I walked out a new man knowing I'd just got a fresh trim.
Great service, very clean and new inside, and the barbers are really friendly. I walked in without a booking and they fit me in with no wait.
When it happened.
- Google Maps positions recorded for five searches, and the old site captured.
- SimplyScale added as a manager on his listing. Six months of listing figures captured before any change.
- Listing updated. New website live on bennysbarbershop.co.uk that evening.
Why it's a no-brainer.
Buying the same parts separately costs about £1,500 up front and £750 a month, and that's the low end. The bigger difference is everything around the price.
